Lets take a glimpse of the effects of nuclear radiation:
The first signs of radiation sickness including:
nausea
vomiting
headache
some loss of white blood cells
- Doses of 300 rems or more cause temporary hair loss,
- Internal harm, including damage to nerve cells and the cells that line the digestive tract.
- Severe loss of white blood cells, which are the body's main defense against infection, makes radiation victims highly vulnerable to disease.
- reduces production of blood platelets, which aid blood clotting, so victims of radiation sickness are also vulnerable to hemorrhaging.
- Half of all people exposed to 450 rems die,
- doses of 800 rems or more are always fatal.
- Besides the symptoms mentioned above, these people also suffer from fever and diarrhea. As of yet, there is no effective treatment--so death occurs within two to fourteen days.
In time, for survivors, diseases such as leukemia (cancer of the blood), lung cancer, thyroid cancer, breast cancer, and cancers of other organs can appear due to the radiation received.

Hurm..i have hope..hope that radiation effects can be cured...so, i goggled here and there and found a bit of light..so, here i present things that i found from here and there. Read carefully.
Given that there are some 440 nuclear reactors worldwide you’d expect the risk of radiation to be high. However, the only major nuclear accident that saw radiation escape over large areas has to date been Chernobyl. We hope the 2011 Japanese nuclear situation will not be added.
There is a way to avoid this toxicity but it has to be done before exposure to the radioactive nuclear radiation product iodine. Taking potassium iodide (KI) or potassium iodate (KIO3) will saturate the thyroid gland with the safe and stable iodine, contained in these chemicals. This leaves no room for the radioactive iodine to be taken up in the thyroid. Therefore any ingested or inhaled iodine is rapidly eliminated via the kidneys.
Of course KI or KIO3 tablets offer no protection against other radio active elements nor from external radiation.
Ok..u MUST click potassium iodide (KI) or potassium iodate (KIO3) to know more about it...
Tapi i can sum up for you out there...
KI is the ingredient added to your table salt to make it iodized salt. However, a salt of the elements potassium and iodine, taken orally even in very small quantities 1/2 hour to 1 day before radioactive iodines are swallowed or inhaled, prevents about 99% of the damage to the thyroid gland that otherwise would result. The thyroid gland readily absorbs both non-radioactive and radioactive iodine, and normally it retains much of this element in either or both forms.
There is a correct way to use this iodized salt in cooking as it has different loss rate according to the way u cook, such as:
• About 20% iodine loss - fry and grill
• About 58% iodine loss - boil
• Iodine loss can be highly reduced by super fast grilling.
So lepas ni..cepat2 pergi beli garam beriodin yer...prevention is super duper priority looking at the pretty worse nuclear crisis in Japan. Of course this salt can't stop the effect but at least it prevent us from getting thyroid cancer.
